The development of Chongqing's hardware and electromechanical industry is entering a new phase, marked by significant investment and strategic planning. Recently, the Chongqing Hanjiang International Hardware & Electrical Purchasing Center was established in Baishitun, Jiulongpo District, located in the western part of the city. This large-scale project spans 700 mu (approximately 46.7 hectares), with a total construction area of 1 million square meters and an investment exceeding 3 billion yuan. It serves as the foundation for the Western International Agriculture-Related Logistics Park, aiming to become a key hub for regional trade and logistics.
When people think of hardware and electrical markets in Chongqing, they often recall Chenjiaping and Shiqiaopu. These areas have long been the center of such trade, hosting over seven professional markets with more than 800 to 1,000 businesses operating there. However, due to limitations in market capacity and insufficient supporting infrastructure, these traditional markets have faced challenges, leading to a development bottleneck.
To address this, the Chongqing Municipal Government has introduced the "Two-Circle Regional Development Plan" and the "Two-Circle Era Large-Scale Residential Area Plan," which emphasize shifting more than 180 large and medium-sized professional markets from the core urban area to the second ring zone. In line with this initiative, the Hanjiang International Hardware & Electrical Purchasing Center was developed to support this transition.
Covering nearly 700 mu, the purchasing center has a total construction area of 1 million square meters and a total investment of 3 billion yuan. It can accommodate over 7,000 businesses, with each phase capable of housing around 2,000 enterprises. The project is designed to absorb the industrial transfer from the Chenjiaping and Shiqiaopu markets, offering modern facilities and improved services.
In addition to the trading space, the center includes supporting facilities such as hotels, office buildings, logistics centers, and parking lots. According to the project’s officials, their goal is to establish it as the largest hardware and electrical trading cluster in the western region. They aim for an annual transaction volume of at least 50 billion yuan, with aspirations to reach 100 billion yuan in the future. This ambitious project reflects not only the growth potential of Chongqing’s hardware and electromechanical sector but also its commitment to sustainable and efficient urban development.
