Inside the gas pressure regulator, there is a circular rubber diaphragm that separates the device into an upper and lower chamber. The upper chamber contains a spring, which connects to the adjustment screw cover on one end and the rubber diaphragm on the other. On the edge of the upper valve cover, there is a small 0.8mm diameter hole, allowing the upper chamber to communicate with the outside environment. This hole is known as the vent or breathing hole. When high-pressure gas enters the lower chamber through the inlet valve, it increases the pressure in that area. As the pressure rises, the diaphragm is pushed upward, reducing the volume of the upper chamber. When the pressure in the upper chamber becomes higher than atmospheric pressure, air from inside the regulator is slowly released through the vent hole, helping regulate the internal pressure. During this process, the lever moves—its right side lifts up while the left side presses down. This action gradually closes the intake nozzle, stopping the gas flow into the lower chamber. Once the downstream valve is opened, gas is released, causing the pressure in the lower chamber to drop. The diaphragm then curves downward, moving the lever so the intake nozzle opens again, allowing high-pressure gas to enter the lower chamber once more. As the upper chamber expands, its internal pressure decreases below atmospheric pressure, drawing in outside air through the vent hole. This completes one cycle of the pressure regulation process. The vent hole is positioned near the edge of the upper cover and close to the diaphragm. If the pressure in the lower chamber becomes too high, the diaphragm will lift and block the vent hole, preventing gas from escaping. According to Boyle’s Law, when the volume of a fixed amount of gas decreases, its pressure increases. By controlling this balance, the diaphragm is protected from damage due to excessive pressure differences, reducing the risk of gas leakage caused by a ruptured membrane. This design ensures that gas does not escape through the vent hole under normal operating conditions, enhancing the safety and reliability of the gas pressure regulator.

Silicon nitride ceramic materials have excellent thermal stability, high oxidation resistance and high dimensional accuracy. Since silicon nitride is a covalent compound with high bond strength and can form an oxide protective film in air, it also has good chemical stability. It is not oxidized below 1200 ° C, and a protective film is formed at 1200 to 1600 ° C to prevent further. It is oxidized and is not wetted or corroded by many kinds of molten metals or alloys such as aluminum, lead, tin, silver, brass, nickel, etc., but can be corroded by molten materials such as magnesium, nichrome, and stainless steel.
