The autonomous engine uses action to interpret "world-class high-end power"

As one of the oldest diesel engine manufacturers in China, FAW Jiefang Wuxi Diesel Engine Factory has consistently focused on innovation and technological development. Their efforts have led to the creation of world-class high-end engines that set new standards in performance and reliability. This commitment to independent innovation has helped the company establish itself as a leader in the global automotive industry.

One of the most remarkable achievements comes from the Aowei 11-liter engine, which has set a new benchmark with over 2 million kilometers without a major overhaul. In 2005, Xinjiang Hetian Shuntong Transportation Co., Ltd. purchased a fleet of Liberation heavy trucks equipped with this engine. These vehicles have been operating continuously in the harsh conditions of the Taklimakan Desert for nearly a decade, enduring extreme temperatures, sandstorms, and dry weather. Remarkably, 13 of these trucks have exceeded 2 million kilometers, with the longest reaching an impressive 2.21 million kilometers without any major maintenance.

Wang Lizhi, assistant general manager of FAW Group, highlighted that while it's common for high-end engines to reach millions of kilometers before needing an overhaul, achieving this feat across a batch of engines is nothing short of a miracle. The Jinan Automobile Testing Center conducted thorough tests and confirmed that the internal components were original factory parts, no major repairs had been performed, and all systems remained in excellent condition. The wear was within normal limits, indicating that these vehicles can continue operating efficiently for years to come.

The success of Xichai engines is not accidental. Over the years, FAW Xichai has focused on technological advancement, transitioning from a technology-driven approach to becoming a true technology leader. This has enabled the company to develop core competencies such as high-safety engine braking, long-life engine design, and efficient fuel technology. These innovations have positioned Xichai at the forefront of the diesel engine industry.

The Aowei engine was the first in China to integrate four-valve and overhead camshaft technologies, offering superior power, torque, and fuel efficiency. It also features advanced braking systems like air brakes, compression release brakes, and exhaust brakes, which significantly reduce the need for frequent braking during long descents, enhancing both safety and reliability. In 2011, the Liberation J6 Heavy Truck paired with the Aowei engine won the prestigious "First Prize of China Science and Technology Progress Award."

Since 2012, Xichai has made significant progress in intellectual property, filing 70 patent applications and securing 22 patents. Notably, the "Diesel Vehicle Load Intelligent Identification Fuel-Saving Control Method" broke through key barriers in fuel-saving technology, giving Xichai a competitive edge in electronically controlled diesel engines. Technologies like GPS integration, EGR, and engine braking have made Xichai the only company in the industry with full control over critical core technologies.

By 2014, the Aowei engine had captured a large share of the market, with the 11-liter model accounting for over 50% of domestic sales. Vehicles equipped with the Aowei engine are not only popular domestically but have also gained international recognition, being exported to more than 20 countries, including Russia, Kazakhstan, South Africa, and South America. This global expansion underscores the trust placed in Xichai's engineering excellence and reliable performance.
