What if the fire scene faints?

Fire-related shock is a life-threatening condition that can result from severe electrical burns, fractures, trauma, intense pain from burns, and heavy bleeding. While some injuries may not be immediately fatal, they can become deadly if not treated promptly due to the serious shock they cause.

Common signs of shock include pale lips and face, cold hands and feet, a weak pulse, rapid breathing, cold sweat, a dull expression, extreme thirst, and even unconsciousness or coma. The extremities may turn blue, the pulse may be difficult to detect, blood pressure may drop, and there may be no urine output. To prevent shock and provide first aid, the following measures are recommended:

1. For individuals experiencing severe pain, painkillers should be administered. Acupuncture can also be used as an alternative method. Specific points such as Shenmen, the ear's "Pillow" area, Adrenal Gland, and Cortex can be stimulated to help reduce discomfort and manage symptoms effectively.

2. If the injured person is conscious and has no internal injuries, they can be given small amounts of warm fluids like ginger soup, rice porridge, hot tea, or light salt water. In winter, keeping them warm is crucial, while in summer, preventing heatstroke is important. Wet clothes should be changed promptly, and the injured should be kept lying down with clear airways. If necessary, artificial respiration should be performed. For unconscious individuals, acupressure on points like Zhongwan (CV12), Shixuan (EX-HN10), Neiguan (PC6), and Yongquan (KI1) can help stimulate recovery.

3. In fire situations, it’s essential to quickly locate and rescue the injured. Wounds should be covered and dressed properly to minimize bleeding, contamination, and pain. Fractures, major joint injuries, and soft tissue damage should be immobilized as soon as possible. All external bleeding must be controlled effectively. Anyone suspected of internal bleeding should be taken to the hospital immediately for further evaluation and treatment.

4. After emergency care, the injured should be moved to a safe and stable location where they can rest in a flat position. Providing emotional support and reassurance is important to ease their anxiety. Once the injured have had a short period of rest, they should be transported to a medical facility for professional care. This content was originally written by China Rescue Equipment Network.
