"Silky Cream No.5" is a skin protection cream developed by the Capital Hospital, specifically designed to offer effective protection against various irritating chemicals. The product is non-irritating, odorless, and leaves no oily residue on the skin. It is comfortable to use, does not interfere with sweat gland function, and is easy to remove. These features have made it highly favored among factory workers who are frequently exposed to harsh substances.
After testing "Silky Cream No.5" on workers from three wood preservative plants in Liuzhou, Beijing, and Yingtan, we gathered feedback that confirmed its effectiveness. The cream was found to protect against coal tar, anti-corrosion oil, and five types of chlorophenol, including sodium pentachlorophenol vapor and dust. Workers reported that when they did not apply the cream before entering tanks or handling oil residues, their exposed skin—especially the face—was immediately affected by strong, spicy irritation. However, after applying "Silky Cream No.5," they could work inside the tanks without any discomfort.
Additionally, workers who were exposed to pentachlorophenol oil or sodium pentachlorophenol solution often experienced severe itching and tingling when dust settled on their faces and necks. In some cases, this led to acute dermatitis, such as rose-shaped papules and blisters. But when using the protective cream, these symptoms were completely avoided. Since the cream does not block sweat glands, workers felt no discomfort even during hot summer operations, making it a practical and well-liked choice in industrial settings.
