Affected by the international financial crisis, China's rare earth production declined in the past, but due to excess smelting and separation capacity, the output of smelting and separating products exceeded the mandatory plan, reaching 144,000 tons.
According to the production situation of rare earth enterprises in China in 2008, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology initially drafted the “plate†for the national rare earth production in 2009. According to Wang Caifeng, Director of Metal Materials Division II of the Raw Materials Industry Department of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, at present, the national directive production plan for rare earth mineral products and smelting and separating products has not yet been finalized in 2009, but this plan will not break through the 2008 level. The planned output will also be slightly reduced.
