How to properly use and maintain the diesel generator control panel/box?

Diesel generator set control panel (box) structure and installed equipment is different, its use and maintenance content is also different. The following uses the PF13-75 control box (shown below) as an example to briefly describe the use and maintenance of the control panel (box).

First, the use of control panels (boxes)
1. Open the switch YK with the key and press the start button SB to start the diesel engine.
2. Increase the speed of the diesel engine. When the speed of the diesel engine rises close to the rated value, the generator can generate electricity by itself. The generator voltage can be adjusted via the tuning potentiometer of the excitation regulator TST1 (or TST2). When the diesel engine is running and the generator is not generating power, the de-excitation switch SA5 can be turned on.
3. The three-phase voltage of the generator can be measured by the switch SA1 and the voltmeter Vl.
4. The insulation condition of the generator can be monitored by the “insulation monitoring” lamp LH4~LH6. When a certain relative short circuit occurs, the corresponding insulation monitoring lamp is not on.
5, connected to the automatic air switch, the output (or closing) indicator HL1 light, indicating that the unit has been to the load power.
6. The diesel engine working condition is monitored by the oil temperature table YW, the oil pressure gauge JY, the water temperature table SW, the frequency table Hz, and the charging current meter A. The working condition of the generator is monitored by the voltmeter V1, the current meter A, the frequency meter Hz, the power meter W, and the power factor meter cosφ.
7. When the generator is running in stand-alone mode , SA3 should be placed in the "stand-alone" position, and the SA2 of the synchronization table V2 should be placed in the "OFF" position, and the excitation regulator SA7 should be placed in the desired position. When SA7 is placed in position “I”, AVR1 is put into operation; when it is in position “II”, AVR2 is put into operation; in position “I+II”, two excitation regulators are in parallel to control the generator work, and each is out of control. Pressure protection ensures the unit's reliability during "stand-alone" operation.
8. When the generator runs side by side, SA3 should be placed in the "Parallel" position, SA9 in the "ON" position, SA7 in the "I" or "II" position, but not in the "I+II" , otherwise it can not control the operation of the parallel operation.

9. Two sets of generators running in parallel should adjust their adjustable speed adjustment setting positions respectively, so that the rated speed of the set is -3% (Class III power station) or -5% (Class IV power station) under the rated active power. . Engines that do not have adjustable speed control devices should be paired with the preferred diesel engine so that the rate of adjustment is as consistent as possible.
10. Two diesel generators running in parallel shall set the differential resistance of the reactive power regulator QT separately so that the voltage drop of the diesel generator set at the rated load with a rated power factor of 0.8 is -3% of the rated voltage ( Class III power station) or -5% (IV class power station).
11. When the generator sets are in parallel operation, they must satisfy the same phase sequence, the same voltage, the same frequency, and operate according to the parallel operation method.
12. Load transfer after running the generator set. When one generator runs side by side with another (or several) generators, load transfer must be performed. The active power transfer is to adjust the throttle of the diesel engine. The larger the throttle is, the more work is carried and the smaller the throttle is, the smaller the work is. Reactive power transfer is to adjust the setting potentiometer in the excitation regulator to adjust the excitation current of the generator . The larger the excitation current is, the larger the reactive power is, and the smaller the excitation current is, the smaller the reactive power is. Load transfer is usually carried out in stages, that is, a part of the active power is transferred first, and then a part of the reactive power is transferred, so that the step-by-step transfer to balance is performed (that is, a balanced distribution according to the rated power ratio).
13. Unit disassembling operation: When the total load drops enough to disassemble a unit, the setting potentiometer of the diesel engine throttle and the excitation regulator can be separately adjusted, the active power and reactive power can be reduced to zero, and then the unit can be Solution.

(II) Maintenance of control panel (box)
1. The control panel (box) must be kept dry, clean and well-ventilated during use to prevent dust, water droplets, metal, or other debris from intruding into the cabinet.
2. Regular inspection and maintenance are required to check whether the contact of each part is good, whether the fastening screws are loose, whether the electrical contacts are in good condition, and whether the insulation and heat of the coil are normal, and timely repair according to the existing problems.
3. If there is no use for a long time, measure the insulation resistance of the relevant electrical components before use. If moisture is found, it is necessary to dry the damped components before use.
4. When a fault trip occurs, it is necessary to find out the cause of the fault and check the relevant electrical elements in the control panel (box) before reclosing the fault.
