In recent years, the development of cast-in-place heat-insulating aluminum doors and windows has accelerated, with a growing market share. In 2004, the China Non-Ferrous Metals Standardization Technical Committee introduced the national standard "Aluminum Alloy Building Profile Part 6: Insulation Profile," commonly known as GB5237.6. This standard was designed to evaluate cast-type profiles based on their tensile strength and shear resistance at normal and extreme temperatures. However, this approach focused mainly on mechanical properties of the insulating material, while neglecting the inherent physical characteristics of the insulation itself—making it less comprehensive and scientifically sound.
To address these shortcomings, in 2012, under the leadership of the China Non-Ferrous Metals Standardization Technical Committee, Yasong Polyurethanes (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. and the National Chemical Building Materials Testing Center collaborated to develop new standards for thermal insulation rubber materials. These were incorporated into the "Aluminum Alloy Building Profiles Assistive Materials" series, specifically Part 2: Polyurethane Heat-Insulating Adhesive Material. The standard, now known as GB/T23615.2, was officially released in 2013 and implemented thereafter.
GB5237.6 primarily focuses on the wind pressure resistance and long-term dimensional stability of cast-in-place heat-insulating profiles, with shear resistance being one of the key technical indicators. In contrast, GB/T23615.2 emphasizes the performance of the adhesive material itself, including impact resistance, workability, and application suitability. Among these, the notched Izod impact strength and elongation at break are particularly critical. Even if all tests like tensile, shear, and thermal cycling are passed, it does not guarantee safety unless the adhesive’s impact resistance is also satisfactory. A failure in this area could lead to embrittlement, deformation, or even structural failure of the profile.
Therefore, when selecting cast-in-place profiles, it's essential not only to request the profile's inspection report but also to ask for the insulating glue's test results or obtain samples for independent testing. For a long time, there was no unified standard for assessing the quality of heat-insulating adhesives. The introduction of GB/T23615.2 has addressed this issue by providing detailed regulations on testing methods, packaging, and quality certification for polyurethane insulation materials.
Polyurethane insulation testing is divided into two main categories: original glue testing and insulation rubber sheet testing. Original glue inspection includes visual quality and solidification time, while the rubber sheet test involves appearance, density, load deformation temperature, thermal conductivity, notched Izod impact strength, Shore hardness, tensile strength, elongation at break, low-temperature tensile strength, and UV aging resistance.
The most critical test in this process is the notched Izod impact strength, which measures a material’s ability to absorb energy before breaking, thereby evaluating its toughness and brittleness. Sample plates for testing should be prepared with dimensions of at least 170mm x 170mm x 12mm or 300mm x 300mm x 12mm.
This test is crucial for determining whether your thermal insulation profile meets the required standards, especially for high-rise buildings where safety is paramount. If the impact strength is inadequate, the profile may crack or deform, potentially leading to dangerous situations such as window detachment.
If you're purchasing or using cast-insulated profiles, it’s highly recommended that you request the latest impact report from the National Chemical Building Materials Testing Center. If the supplier cannot provide this, ask for a sample of the insulating rubber and have it tested by a local laboratory. The cost for such a test typically ranges between 200 to 300 RMB. Always prioritize safety and ensure that all critical parameters meet the required standards.
Anti Fatigue Mats Industrial
The workshop is a place to stand and work for long periods of time, so the use of anti-fatigue MATS is very important for the health and productivity of employees. The following is a discussion about the necessity of using anti-fatigue MATS in the workshop and the types of options available on the market: anti-fatigue floor MATS combine various functions: fatigue relief, high elasticity, shock resistance, etc., can effectively prevent impact and fatal injuries, and are very durable for industrial and harsh environments. The shape of its bottom and surface is designed for workers to stand for a long time, which can greatly reduce the fatigue and pain caused by prolonged standing on the legs.
