If you are looking for a quick and convenient way, then you can tell, there is no. Of course, apply a small amount of polishing oil to the rag. It is very fast to get a quick glaze on the furniture, but you will often need to remove the furniture twice in the future. The oil attracts dust, not dust. Therefore, once the furniture shines because of the beauty of the smeared oil, it will quickly become dusty. And many of the dust can be combined with the oil, making the furniture extremely difficult to clean, but it is prone to scratches. So why do most museums smear furniture? The answer is both simple and complex.

Oil does benefit the surface of the furniture (not wood). As time goes by, the surface of the furniture begins to dry and eventually “evaporates” from the wood, causing the coating to crack or collapse. However, this process will take place long after, and before that it is more likely to cause coating wear due to daily use. Therefore, you should use wax to protect the wood itself, so that the dust is minimized, and the moisture on the surface of the wood should not be taken too much.

Liquid waxes are somewhat better than polishing oils. They create a protective layer on the surface of the wood that causes the dust to slip rather than stick, but its protection time is not as long as wax.

The best protection for wooden furniture is the use of high quality waxes, which contain small amounts of paraffin and a large amount of palm wax. They are very hard and can be cut into small amounts of sand (about 1/4 of a ball), placed on a piece of cloth, kneaded back and forth until it is soft enough to be waxed. Then began to wax the furniture. Use a small circle to rub the wax onto the surface of the wood. Remember that the harder the wax you use, the better it will protect your furniture. If you wax a large piece of furniture, make sure you take a break for a while, because waxing is not a simple matter, and if you want to do it well, you must keep it fresh.

Once you have waxed the furniture, the protective layer should last for 1 to 2 years, depending on how many times you use it. If after 5 to 10 years, the surface of the furniture begins to become smeared or darkened, then the mineral oil can be used to wipe the wood, the old wax layer is scraped off, and a new wax protective layer is applied. Some purists strongly support the use of mineral spirits instead of mineral oil. However, mineral spirits are very dangerous and require careful use. If you want to use mineral spirits, please refer to the instructions for use and usage.

If you use furniture polishing oil instead of wax, you will find that the surface of the furniture will be darkened after a few years. Unfortunately, in fact, the polishing oil can absorb and fuse dust, and there is no way to remove the dust except for the entire surface of the wood.

If you are looking for a dark or antique color coating for wood, try beeswax instead of palm wax.
