American scientists are developing nano-cellulose materials

A group of researchers at Purdue University in the United States have just discovered a substance that may be the next generation of supermaterials - vegetables, which they also call "carrot" materials. By observing the composition of the plant, the team found that the building blocks of vegetables and trees have the same stiffness as steel. Through this discovery at the front door, we may be able to produce structural materials in the same way as planting plants in the future.

Nanocrystalline cellulose is the basic structure of plant life. Purdue University in the accurate modeling of the atomic structure of cellulose, this structure has a stiffness of 206 gigapascals, which is precisely the rigidity of steel. However, it is clear that the trees are not as hard as steel. It seems that the new discovery of "vegetable steel products" seems to require a lot of scientific work.

The cellulose nanocrystals in this study are only 500 nanometers long and 3 nanometers wide, which of course is not the structure of the steel beam at all. Obviously, the next task of the research team is very difficult, they need to figure out how to build a perfect nano-cellulose structure and can be manufactured. Once this experiment is successful, we can apply this vegetal structure growing in the laboratory to the steel production of all skyscrapers and automobiles. The prospects for it are excellent.
