How to raise seedlings for camphor science:
Seed collection: Choose strong and healthy eucalyptus trees, harvest shells and thin kernels. Generally, in mid-September (September 10 to 15), the fruit arils turn from green to yellow-green, most of the arils are slightly cracked, the seeds are purple-red, and a small amount of seeds are collected. The fruits are collected and placed in a cool, ventilated place to facilitate separation of the seeds from the aril. When the seed is slightly purple after 7 to 10 days, the seeds are taken out, and the pre-sow treatment can be performed.
Germination: Seeds of alfalfa generally require 2a to germinate. In order to be able to emerge in the same year, use wet sand storage to promote the physiological ripening to achieve the purpose of germination. Due to the greater temperature difference between the day and night of the storage of the seeds of the camphor, the stronger the germination potential and the higher the germination rate, it is better to change the temperature and germination outside. Choose a sunny, well-drained flat, dig a pit, first put 15cm of wet sand, soak seeds with a new high-fat film, then layer 1 layer of clean sand layered, about 50cm thick, both moisturizing and Mildewproof. The straw cover has a moisture content of 3% to 5%. By the second year of February, when the seed shell is slightly cracked, the seed can be taken out. It can keep warm, moisturize and swell, improve the germination rate of seeds and make the seedlings strong. Repel underground pests and isolate viral infections.
Sowing: Choose fertile, loose, well-drained soil and apply enough base fertilizer. The sowing, the bed surface should be flat, the row spacing is 10cm×40cm, and the seeding amount is 600～900kg/hm2. Shallow covering soil, the thickness is about 3 times the transverse diameter of the seed; covering the grass to keep the bed surface loose and moist. After the seedlings are unearthed, field management such as weeding, loosening, fertilization, irrigation, and shading (transparency of about 50%) should be done in time. The rootstock is cultivated for 2~3a for grafting.
