On the morning of the 24th, the world's largest single-unit capacity nuclear power generator—Taishan Nuclear Power Station No. 1, a 1,750 MW nuclear generator—was successfully manufactured by China Eastern Electric Group's Dongfang Motor Co., Ltd. and smoothly shipped from Deyang City, Sichuan Province. This milestone marks another significant achievement in China’s growing nuclear energy industry.
According to Dongfang Motor, before delivery, the generator underwent comprehensive type testing, including critical parameters such as temperature rise, efficiency, and vibration under rated conditions. All tests were completed successfully, confirming that the generator performs exceptionally well and fully meets the contract specifications. This accomplishment highlights Dongfang Electric's continued leadership in the production of large-capacity, high-performance generators and represents a new peak in the industry.
The Taishan Nuclear Power Plant is the first in China and the third globally to adopt EPR (European Pressurized Reactor) third-generation nuclear technology. It stands as the largest nuclear energy cooperation project between China and France to date. Dongfang Motor provided all the nuclear generators for the first phase of the Taishan project. Each unit has an impressive capacity of 1,750 megawatts, making it the most complex, heavy, and technically challenging nuclear generator ever built by the company.
To meet these high standards, Dongfang Electric implemented advanced manufacturing processes, including a new rotor coil assembly method, improved stator bar production, innovative retaining ring assembly, and enhanced oil seal system assembly.
