In recent years, the intelligent building industry in China has experienced rapid growth. From public facilities and high-rise buildings to residential communities, there is a growing demand for smart solutions. The concept of intelligent buildings is no longer just a trend—it’s becoming an essential part of modern urban life.
The real estate sector, which plays a crucial role in people's daily lives, has seen significant expansion, driven by China’s fast-growing economy. With approximately 2 billion square meters of new construction each year, including 400 million square meters of commercial and public buildings, and 1.6 billion square meters of government-subsidized housing and residential projects, the demand for intelligent infrastructure has never been higher.
As a downstream industry, the intelligent construction sector has benefited greatly from this development. According to the "Intelligent Building Industry Development Report 2013–2018," the annual investment in smart construction for public and commercial buildings is estimated at around 320 billion yuan, while the intelligent construction market for government-subsidized housing and residential projects reaches about 80 billion yuan. Together, this amounts to a total market size of 400 billion yuan, with a growth rate of 20% to 30% per year.
Huang Jiusong, president of the Intelligent Building Branch of the China Construction Industry Association, highlighted that intelligent systems are increasingly valued by developers as a way to enhance the appeal and value of real estate projects. As the real estate market continues to thrive, it serves as a powerful driver for the intelligent building industry.
In addition, national policies promoting energy-efficient and green buildings have introduced new standards and pushed the industry forward. These initiatives not only improve environmental sustainability but also encourage innovation within the intelligent building sector.
Lin Ning, president of the Shenzhen Institute of Automation, noted that although the proportion of intelligent buildings in China’s construction industry is still relatively small compared to developed countries, the market share has been increasing at a rate of over 20% annually in recent years. This rapid growth signals a strong future for the industry.
Intelligent buildings represent a major direction in the evolution of modern architecture. Their development depends on advancements in construction technology, information technology, and materials science. As these fields continue to progress, so too will the capabilities and applications of intelligent buildings.
Integrated cabling has become a key factor in evaluating the intelligence of a building. A well-designed wiring system ensures smooth data transmission, efficient network distribution, and high-quality performance—factors that directly influence the user experience.
Moreover, intelligent buildings must adapt to technological advancements and societal changes. By incorporating flexible integrated wiring systems, buildings can be reconfigured to meet future needs, allowing for easier upgrades and modifications. This approach not only enhances current functionality but also ensures long-term adaptability.
With the right infrastructure and continuous innovation, intelligent buildings are set to play a central role in shaping the cities of tomorrow.
