How to fix the wallpaper

When repairing peeling wallpaper, it's helpful to have some leftover adhesive from the original installation. If you didn't save any, you can make your own by diluting a small amount of glue with water. A common ratio is 1:1, but for patching, you might want it slightly thicker. Store the unused glue in an airtight container so it doesn’t dry out. When you're ready to fix the issue, take a small amount and mix it with a bit of water in a smaller bottle. Shake it well until it becomes smooth and consistent before use.

Next, use a syringe to draw in the mixed glue. If the consistency is too thick, you can pour a little into the syringe’s tip and then push it through the plunger. This helps reduce resistance when injecting the glue into the wall.

Before applying the glue, gently clean the area where the wallpaper has lifted. Then, inject the glue behind the paper using the syringe or a small applicator. For plain paper wallpapers, the glue should be thin enough to spread easily. However, if you're working with PVC or deep embossed wallpapers, you may need a thicker mixture. Apply the glue sparingly—about two-thirds of the area—and use a small scraper to press out any excess. Gently press the wallpaper back into place with some pressure to ensure it adheres properly. Most of the time, this will stop the peeling effectively.

Afterward, use a damp sponge to wipe away any remaining glue on the surface. Be careful not to oversaturate the wallpaper, as this could damage the design or cause discoloration.

Keep in mind that the methods described above are suitable for standard wallpapers. If you're dealing with textured materials like gravel or flocking, avoid applying glue directly to the surface, as it can ruin the texture or leave visible marks. In such cases, it’s best to consult a professional or use specialized tools designed for these types of materials. Always test any repair method on a small, inconspicuous area first to ensure it works without causing further damage.
