A quarter of the country’s diamonds enter and exit from the Lotus Hill port

Abstract The Kimberley Process Office at Lianhuashan Passenger Port handles over 200 kilograms of inbound and outbound diamonds annually, with a total value exceeding 300 million US dollars—accounting for roughly a quarter of the country’s total. Faced with such a heavy workload, the Panyu Inspection and Quarantine Bureau’s Lianhuashan Office operates non-stop all year round, dedicating itself to serving the local jewelry processing factories. Jewelry is just one of many key industries in Panyu, which also includes electronics, textiles, and machinery. In 2012, seizing the opportunity to apply for the “National Quality Inspection System Youth Civilization” title, the Lotus Hill Office of the Panyu Inspection and Quarantine Bureau focused on supporting the district’s core and advantageous industries, including jewelry, as well as large-scale enterprises. Their mission was clear: to promote economic development and provide efficient, convenient, and high-quality services tailored to the needs of businesses. By doing so, they ensured strong support for the sustainable and rapid growth of the local economy. The office has continuously worked to improve its service quality, strengthen supervision, and foster trust between government agencies and enterprises. Through these efforts, it has become an essential pillar in ensuring the smooth flow of goods and maintaining the integrity of the diamond trade.
